Why wear a hat in autumn and winter?
A hat covers the part of your body that is most exposed to wind, rain and cold air. Wool felt traps warm air and stays comfortable even on a damp day; a water-repellent hat lets rain run off so you arrive dry. And UV doesn't take the winter off: on clear days, and especially near snow or water, your face and scalp still catch UV. All our autumn/winter hats are UPF50+ certified, so you're covered on bright days too.

The Cassia Fedora is an easy-going fedora in 100% wool felt from R.W.S.-certified suppliers (Responsible Wool Standard). The 6.5 cm brim and 9.5 cm crown give it a refined, compact shape that works with a winter coat as well as a chunky knit. Inside, a Comfy-Fit elastic band with clip lets you fine-tune the fit. The Highland Cloche is made from a wool blend (30% wool, 70% polyester) that adds texture and warmth, with the close-fitting bell shape that makes a cloche so flattering. Storm Sou'wester

Made for wet days. The Storm Sou'wester is a bucket hat in water-repellent nylon with the classic sou'wester shape: a longer brim at the back (9 cm) than at the front (7 cm), so rain doesn't run into your collar. Roll it up or squash it flat in your bag – it's crushable and hand-washable. Comfy-Fit elastic band inside. Colours: Navy, Beige and Green.

Wool felt
Wool felt is the classic choice for a winter hat. It insulates naturally, breathes and stays comfortable when the air is damp. Because felt holds its shape, a wool felt fedora keeps its crown and brim season after season. Spot clean only. → Wool felt
Wool blend
A wool blend combines the warmth and texture of wool with the strength and easy care of polyester. The result is a soft hat you can roll up without worrying – ideal for the Highland Cloche.
Water-repellent nylon
Water-repellent nylon is light, dries fast and folds into a coat pocket. It's the material for a rain hat: rain beads off and the hat hardly weighs a thing.
Fit and care
Every hat in this edit is adjustable. Measure your head 1 cm above your ears and across the middle of your forehead, then pick the closest size. Between sizes? Take the larger one and tighten it with the internal drawstring or Comfy-Fit band (up to 1.5 cm smaller). Not sure? Use our size guide.

Are wool felt hats warm?
Yes. Wool felt insulates naturally and stays comfortable in damp, cold air, which makes it the classic material for an autumn and winter hat.
Can I wear a wool felt hat in the rain?
A light shower is fine – shake off the water and let the hat dry flat at room temperature. For real rain, choose a water-repellent hat like the Storm Sou'wester.
What is a sou'wester?
A sou'wester is a rain hat with a longer brim at the back to keep rain off your neck. The Storm Sou'wester combines that shape with a modern bucket hat silhouette.
Do I need UV protection in winter?
UV levels are lower in winter, but not zero – especially on clear days, in the mountains and near snow. All hats in this collection are UPF50+ certified.
What size winter hat do I need?
Measure your head circumference 1 cm above your ears. 57–58 cm is M/L, 59–61 cm is L/XL. Every hat can be tightened up to 1.5 cm.
